Mudathir Al-Bushi and His Role in Political Life
A visit to the city of Wad Madani revealed the influence of the Assembly after the departure of Mudathir Al-Bushi (82). Mudathir Al-Bushi sympathized with the Islamic current in Egypt, represented by the Muslim Brotherhood. This sympathy became evident when the Egyptian government carried out executions of members of the group: Abdul Qadir Odeh, Muhammad Farghali, and others in 1954. The Muslims prayed the absentee funeral prayer for the souls of the martyrs. He was one of eighty members of the Senate and House of Representatives in the Sudanese parliament, reciting: "O Allah, whoever curses us, mend his condition and turn to him. And if it is in Your knowledge that You will not mend his condition nor turn to him, then O Allah, make his destruction in his planning and his plot in his neck, and cut him off completely, returning him from us and from the Muslims" (83). Religion in the Life of Mudathir Al-Bushi: Mudathir Al-Bushi grew up with a purely religious upbringing, as we have explained. He studied religious sciences and the Maliki jurisprudence under his father. He worked to achieve and establish a number of Islamic values through his poetry, literature, and his call to people. He was interested in religious schools and played a significant role in the establishment of the Wad Madani Scientific Institute, striving for its establishment in 1930 (84). When he became Minister of Justice, he established the Department of Religious Affairs to oversee the affairs of mosques and imams, and he himself supervised it through the Ministry of Justice (85). His poems recalled Islamic meanings, such as his poem titled "Munajat" (Supplication), which included: My Lord, burn the veil and bring me closer I am proceeding on Your path, so who will guide me? In the Garden of Eden Where is the bliss from it? My night Is spent in my love, and when I call out I have bliss from You in this life. The victory of polytheism is in small things and sorrow. May my eyes see nothing but my love from me. The pleasure of life is to love You until Until he says: Or union or unity, so forgive me. My annihilation in God is not a union. It is a connection with a pull, a meeting. Not in a state of heedlessness or transgression (86). The annihilation of the lover is only for months.
