And Mansour and the continuation of his release, and those in it from the army. And the lords of the positions were asking for reinforcements and calling upon the sheikhs. So Muhammad Ali Pasha asked Sayyid Omar Al-Naqib to impose a tax on the people, so they would rise up against him. And he began to gather the army and called out to the soldiers not to flee, and to go out to repel the enemy. And he sent to the people of the country, urging them and rousing them to fight the English, and reminded them of the covenant he had made with them. He said, "Have they pledged to the people of the country?" They said, "Yes." And Muhammad Ali Pasha said, "May God grant Islam victory, so let them answer his call." And they said, "We are not certain of the enmity of the English towards our Sultan until we fight them." And they almost came to our aid at the request of the Ali. Then they left in the evening, and gathered there. And Ali Pasha, after understanding for days, was on the outskirts of the city, preparing to go out for jihad and calling them. He said, "A few days will pass until news comes of their armies and the crossing of the sea, that is, Mansour and Arnald Risha and Amad. And a great number of them were captured. And the sea water, Alexandria, was so strong that it was driven by the currents. And some of the English prisoners to Cairo, so they were brought to the Citadel. There were about two thousand of them, including some senior commanders. So they went out and their resolve was strengthened. And in the afternoon, Bis Bey, one of the Egyptian commanders, sold his army and stayed in the island. On the covenant of peace, Ali Pasha welcomed his arrival and bestowed upon him a robe of satisfaction and gave him weapons and soldiers to fight the English. So he encamped with his people and showed himself. And the soldiers were reluctant to serve Muhammad Ali Pasha, so they came to him from all sides. And his army grew and his influence spread. So he turned his attention to the lands of leadership and fled from every difficult and arduous path. He swore allegiance in the lands of Qalyubia, and gathered money, explosives, and cash. So Muhammad Ali Pasha took him and increased that. And he sent to him, asking for his swift departure to fight the English and to uphold the covenant. So he hesitated, and Muhammad Ali Pasha took matters into his own hands and began to plan against him. He won over the chosen army to him and loosened their reins and showered them with money and gifts. And he called out to the Arnaut and Yafro armies, and they gathered a group in the direction of Biniya and Al-Fondaq, and there was a battle between him and Bulak. And Muhammad Ali Pasha rode with a group of his close associates and went to that area and fortified the city gates. And he sent to Bis Bey, saying, "Either you depart and come to obedience, and we will overlook this blame, and we will fight the English. Or you depart to your country without delay, or the Bey will be imprisoned and buried there." So Bis Bey and the resolve of his people were taken, and most of them dispersed. When it was after sunset that day, he asked to ride, and his people did not know where he was going. So they all rode and traveled a little in the dead of night, then they dispersed, and each group went in a different direction. He went to the land of Maqrou, and Bis did not see anyone with him until morning, and the story of what happened behind him became clear.
