We do not find any details about his activity in this city; however, he may have taken one of its mosques as a place for teaching for some time, teaching knowledge and issuing fatwas to people. From what is mentioned in Al-Tijani's journey about one of the mosques of Tripoli, it is understood that he praised the arrival of Imam Al-Mahdi, may God have mercy on him, when he passed through Tripoli.

Then he moved to Al-Mahdiyya. He settled in one of its fortresses, Al-Tijla, as a place for teaching knowledge, focusing on teaching the fundamentals, realizing what the people of Ifriqiya and the Maghreb suffered from a lack of this knowledge. In this city, he continued what he had started of enjoining good and forbidding evil. He might have resorted to breaking musical instruments and pouring out wine vessels. This caused a disturbance in the city, which led Prince Ali bin Yahya bin Tamim to summon him to a gathering of scholars to clarify his actions. He may have perceived sincerity and devotion in his actions, so he showed him respect and honor, and asked him for prayers. The prince may have assigned the scholar Abu Abdullah Al-Mazri to discuss with him what he had done in the city, to admonish him gently and inform him of his fear for him from the prince and his soldiers if he continued on the same path.
