However, religion is a matter of faith, and whoever deviates from it is in error, as is evident from the burning of the "Al-Tahriq" that was transmitted to him by the Arabs of the Banu Hilal, and what happened to him from the "Al-Ta'riyah" that was transmitted to him from his ancestors. The Prophet (peace be upon him) said: "Allah will send to this Ummah at the head of every hundred years someone who will renew its religion." And "Al-Tahriq" is sufficient for those with short-sighted views of the Quran or Sunnah, as seen by the deviant sects. Therefore, the scholars are hesitant in understanding it. The Prophet (peace be upon him) said: "And this age is from the time of the righteous and the departure of the pious." And Ibn Taymiyyah argued with it, and the fatwas and Ibn al-Qayyim, the key to the abode of happiness and the revival of the sciences, and Al-Bayhaqi said: "And Ibn 'Abd al-Salam testified to the testimony of Abu al-Hasan al-Ash'ari, and it is the Tawhid, and his testimony was confirmed by the testimony of his angels, and the testimony of the heavens. For He, the Almighty, testifies to the souls. And from here - and even if it is far away - the well-known hadith is taken: 'And this age is from the time of the righteous...'" For whoever deviates from religion introduces doubt to the extent of his deviation, and the source of "Al-Tahriq" among the Jews and Christians is the saying of Almighty Allah: "O People of the Book, do not exaggerate in your religion." And Almighty Allah said: "Say: O People of the Book, do not exaggerate in your religion, other than the truth." And the covenant and understanding are clear until the truth is established and the falsehood is refuted. The Imam (may Allah have mercy on him) said: "O Abu al-Hasan bin Zayed al-Qurashi, hearts are vessels, and the best of them are the most retentive. Keep what I tell you: People are three: a righteous man, a man who follows the path of the righteous, and a rabble who follow every wind, who are not illuminated by the light of knowledge, nor do they resort to a firm pillar to which doubt can be cast from any witness."
