The agreement was made for it to take place the next day [when] upon its arrival, it was deemed appropriate for the entire detachment to proceed without dividing into two groups, given the availability of sufficient water. At 7:30 AM, everyone settled into their positions, taking precautions as usual within the enclosure. Then, at 9 PM, a light rain fell, [giving hope] for easier access to water. On Sunday, after the arrival of the second detachment, it was confirmed that water was abundant.

On blessed Sunday, September 30, 1883, the second detachment arrived under the command of Hussein Pasha Mazhar at 6:30 AM, with great orderliness. They passed by the right flank and the enclosure where we were. At that time, another enclosure was established by them due to the lack of sufficient space for the entire detachment. We stayed at this mentioned point on the night of Monday, October 9, 1883. At 2 AM on that night, Al-Habibiri arrived and reported the abundance of water sufficient for the entire detachment, and there, reassurance was achieved (as the magnitude of the army is not hidden, as I have explained).

On Monday morning, at 1 AM, corresponding to October 1, 1883, we departed from the point [near] Al-Majlij, heading towards Al-Khanfariyah. After four hours of travel, the army halted in formation for a rest. The presence of water on the route was confirmed, as we had observed. At 6 AM, we reached the point of Al-Khanfariyah, where we encamped next to a water pool. We spent the night there. During the journey, before reaching our destination, a conversation took place between me and the Chief of Staff, Colonel Farkhar, while we were riding. [My best] arrived, His Excellency Hussein Pasha Mazhar, and he began by saying that his orders had not been carried out that morning. I asked him which orders had not been carried out. He replied that [yesterday, dated at night] an order had been sent to Hussein Pasha Mazhar that when the works of the fort were outside the enclosure, the first face of the enclosure should have its gates opened for the exit of the equipment, a battalion, or then the camels, so that the fort could be organized in relation to the march, knowing that this could be completed in less than half an hour. His Excellency Hussein Pasha Mazhar had seen that the entire first face should be raised.
