Faraweh sat in his diwan and discussed some of his rulings. The custom was thus. Then some of the 'ulama said, "The custom is not in the Book of Allah nor in the Sunnah of His Messenger." Then he gathered the leaders of the state and said to them, "If you have a Lord who wants me to be your Sultan, then do not oppress. Do not even think of it in your hearts, and turn to Allah Almighty from it, for oppression destroys states and shortens the lives of kings." They said, "We hear and obey." Then, on the morning of the third day, he ordered the treasuries of Sultan Tirab to be brought out. They were brought out, and what was in them of gold and silver coins and clothes was distributed to the scholars, the Ashraf, and the poor. And much of the abundant and fine cloth that had been sent was found. He ordered it to be thrown outside the house, and whoever found anything useful took it. The great mountain was thus filled, and the poor gathered around it, plundering it and extending their hands in prayer for Sultan Abd al-Rahman. Then, on the seventh day, he brought out the slave girls of Sultan Tirab and distributed them as well, leaving only those who were married to his brother by contract. Then he appointed officials, making Muhammad Dhaki the amin in his father's position, the amin of Wad Jami', and ordered preparations for an immediate departure to the Dar. They prepared. When he left Kord, he said, "Pass by Jabal al-Nu and attack them, and take all the young men and women in it, leaving nothing behind."
