They showed him the gift and told him about the peace and pardon for him, and to refrain from taking revenge on him, unless he did the same again. His soul was pleased with the gift, he accepted it, and pardoned him. He ordered them to bring him and to emphasize his advice on behaving with good manners and to abandon his arrogance, and not to consider himself superior to anyone, but rather to be humble in servitude, because he is one of the commanders, equal to all. If he did the same again, he should blame only himself. They obeyed his order and brought him and emphasized his advice. Then they brought him before the master of the seal. When he saw him, he was pleased, and his face brightened. He ordered Al-Jalawi to be brought, and his audience was postponed. He took care of him and showed him kindness and treated him well. Then the master of the seal wrote to his servant, the Pasha, informing him of what had happened with Al-Jalawi and that Al-Jalawi had appeased him with a gift, and that he had pardoned him and sent the gift with the letter. When the letter reached him, he read it, brought the gift, looked at it, then returned it to him and wrote to him the following: "We have received your letter and understood its contents. The gift has been received by us very well, but we saw that it was more suitable for you than for us. We have therefore shown you leniency and have been merciful to you because you are young and fond of adornment, and in your isolation."
