These efforts include the Jidawand area, especially some of its islands. Even by the year 200 AD, expeditions had recorded over 750 archaeological sites, not only in Jidawand but also along the region extending to Magrat Island. The region witnessed several invasions and scattered reports, some dating back to the Mahdist leaders Al-Marwi and Al-Sabeiji. Images and inscriptions on stones dating back to the Napatan and Meroitic periods were also found. In Jebel Kashili, archaeological excavations uncovered approximately 218 graves. Christian artifacts were also found in the burial ground, and stones in the Umm Gozi area dating back to the Meroitic and Christian periods were discovered. Methodology: Throughout all stages of the study, we gathered information from the field. We traveled to Jidawand, where my colleague, a research assistant, accompanied me. In this regard, we were directed to follow up with individuals who possessed knowledge of the history and poetry we sought. We toured all the villages in the region, east and west, and visited some individuals in the opposite areas. Regarding ancient history, despite the scarcity of information and the prevalence of myths about the region, it held historical significance from the 16th century BC. Even during Islamic Egypt, the region represented and was granted by the rulers the freedom to be a refuge for the kings of Christian kingdoms, especially against Islamic armies. King Shamaun of Dongola took interest in an island in the Amri region in the year 788 AD, during the decline of Egyptian authority. The widespread obstacles on the river north of Dongola, numbering five hundred ships, prevented any acquisition, as did the aforementioned transfer. Wudantjun described this island, stating it was carved from rock, resembling the lighthouse of (Bocelli) in Naples, Italy. These areas, it seems, were part of Nubian possessions. Significant archaeological exploration efforts are underway in all the scattered areas around the Merowe Dam.
