Mudathir Ali Al-Bushi and his role in political life

His awareness was complete that the transformations that had organized the world did not allow them to impose their policies and authority on the globe (76). Mudathir Al-Bushi was a constant source of concern for the government in Sudan, a concern that one government report described. "Mudathir Ali Al-Bushi has caused us more problems than any other student in the school, and he has many political inclinations, and I cannot assign him to any government position" (77). The intelligence department of the Sudanese government also wrote a report on Mudathir Al-Bushi dated December 7, 1944, stating: "I do not have precise information about his political activity in the past few months, except that he meets frequently with Al-Hurriya, and it seems he supplies him with his ideas. He certainly plays a large part in spreading his political propaganda. He is a religiously fanatical young man, but he is intelligent enough to avoid any action that might criminalize him. I believe it would be beneficial if his influence were reduced to zero" (78). When Mudathir Al-Bushi wrote to the government requesting to be treated according to the pension regulations, the Judicial Secretary of the Government of Sudan sent him a letter dated February 2, 1928, stating: "To Sheikh Mudathir Ali Al-Bushi, Judicial Officer, Eastern Blue Nile Province, Wad Madani. Referring to your request for treatment under the provisions of the Sudan Government Pension Regulations, I inform you that I am not convinced that you are proceeding in accordance with the grant given to you by Sir (Wasey Medtrie) upon your appointment to this service, that you have been able to interfere in all political matters. Therefore, I have decided to extend your probationary period for another year, as it is necessary in this country, as in other countries, that an employee holding a judicial position should not interfere in politics" (79). In 1929, Mudathir Al-Bushi engaged in political activity through preaching and guidance at Al-Bushi Mosque in Madani after obtaining permission from the government for imamate and teaching. Dozens of the sons of Al-Jazira attended the preaching circles he held and the Friday sermons he delivered (80). At the end of 1937, Mudathir Al-Bushi founded an association in Wad Madani and delivered a speech to it titled "Factors of Construction and Tools of Destruction" (81).
