Al-Suqlī, author of the book "Salwan al-Muti' fi 'Idwa al-Atba'", who passed away in the city of Hamah in the year 565 AH. And from the explanations of Al-Fandhaji, which is Sheikh Al-Imam Taj al-Din Abu Sa'id Muhammad bin Sa'adat Abd al-Rahman bin Muhammad al-Khorasani al-Fandhaji, and it was said Al-Bandhaji the Sufi, who passed away in the city of Damascus in the year 584 AH. And from it another explanation authored by Sheikh Shams al-Din Abu Bakr Muhammad bin Abi Bakr al-Razi, author of "Istilāh al-Qur'an" and "Ikhtiyar al-Sihah", who passed away after the year 560 AH. This explanation was not mentioned by Haj Khalifa in his aforementioned book. It is a concise explanation that testifies to its author's complete mastery of literature. However, the copy I own is incomplete, with about half of the book missing. Only the explanation of the introduction remains, followed by the explanation of the twenty-fifth maqama, starting from the words of Al-Haruri: "And by God, I have long endured hardship in all its forms" to the end. And the explanation of its content from the maqamat up to his saying in the fiftieth maqama: "And she remained devoted to the ugly and abominable." This is what I have of the explanations of the maqamat. I have also gathered six copies of the book of maqamat without explanation, but most of them contain comments and marginalia that benefit the reader. I have informed of these explanations and marginalia as much as a student of knowledge needs to achieve his goal and as much as a lover of literature can use to attain what he seeks. Then I omitted a great deal of that, which I transferred from the books of the imams of grammar and language, from "Majma' al-Amthal" by the scholar Al-Maydani, and the book "Wafayat al-A'yan wa Anba' al-Zaman" by Ibn Khallikan, then from the "Diwan of Al-Buhturi" and the "Diwan of Al-Mutanabbi" and the explanation of the Mu'allaqat by Al-Zuzuji, and other literature books. All of that is to make it easier for those who love it to find pearls in the seas of Arabic languages and to obtain valuable jewels from them.
