There were among people those who did not know how to dye clothes, for example, with the color of murex. Some of them saw a dog that took stones from the sea, opened them, and ate what was inside, so its throat turned red and it was colored with what was inside. So, they took them and learned from them the art of dyeing with this color, as is told about the people of Surir in Sham. In the beginning, people did not know how to sail the sea. Then, by divine inspiration or human insight, they knew that wood floats on water. So, they made ships, then sailed in ships, and developed them in various ways. At first, they were small for trade, then they became luxurious until they were suitable for jihad and destruction. And so it is with other things, like fighting with spears and lances at first.
