He was isolated that night, and his tenure there lasted for the duration of the sedition. This was on Wednesday, the twenty-fourth of Rabi' al-Nabawi, in the year 1128 AH, until the beginning of Rajab of that same year. The fourth time, he was appointed after the dismissal of Commander Abd al-Ghaffar bin Commander Ali al-Turkumani on Thursday, the month of Jumada al-Akhirah, in the year 1134 AH. He set out with a contingent of soldiers, while some refused and remained. He proceeded with some to the village of Waki because of the sons of Commander Ahmad al-Khalifa, who were extorting people. Therefore, the Pasha went out to them with some soldiers and proceeded to Timbuktu. They did not stay, but there was disagreement among them at that hour. They proceeded in this manner to Waki and did not find them there, meaning Kahi Muhammad bin Commander Ahmad al-Khalifa and his brothers. Rather, they had fled upon hearing of his arrival and dispersed to different regions, leaving their town empty for him, with no one in it. Then the Pasha entered it and found it empty. He then ordered the demolition of their houses, the cutting of their trees, and the destruction of their buildings, but he did not capture them. Then he returned to Timbuktu with some soldiers. He proceeded to Timbuktu on Eid al-Fitr, while he was dismissed. He did not enter the citadel, nor did he perform the customary rounds, nor did he go to the prayer ground. Instead, he passed by the citadel to his house. When he reached the gate of his house, he greeted the riflemen, turning his face towards them, and began to greet them by raising his hand, saying, "Praise be to God for your safety." Then he entered his house, dismissed, and his tenure there lasted about four months. In that contingent, meaning the one in which Commander Abdullah went out to the village of Waki, Askia al-Mukhtar bin Shams from Timbuktu went out with him. When they reached the village of Waki, Askia al-Mukhtar mentioned fled from them at night, secretly, and went out alone, fleeing on a dark night, leaving his family, possessions, and robes. He proceeded until he entered his house in the village of Kani, and all the people of Sani gathered around him. This was on the night of Wednesday, two nights before the end of Ramadan al-Mu'azzam, at the end of the fourth year.
