- 68 -Siraj Hawari, to whom I gave a young bird, told him to sell it and buy a silk garment. He sold it and I spent the money on the pilgrims. Halali bin Sheikh Muhammad Issa, son of Suwar al-Dhahab, and his mother was the daughter of King Hassan bin Kushkush, King of Dugla. His father died when he was young. When he was near death, his wife said to him, "My son, guide your elder children. Who will guide them?" She said to him, "You must rely on Al-Hadri." When Sheikh passed away, she brought him her bracelets and performed the pilgrimage for him. She said, "My master Al-Hadri, you are asked to let my son sit in his father's place." He took him and sat him on his prayer mat, and said to him, "Son of my Sheikh, sit." He stood up and went to the Khalwa. Then he came to him, bowed his face to the ground, and said to him, "Extend your hand and greet her." He said, "You are seated in your father's place." Then Halali reached a high level in knowledge, religion, and piety, and became like the Sheikh, surpassing all his brothers. He took over the judiciary like his father and ruled with what was spent on him and the strong against the opposition. In most of his judgments, he leaned towards reconciliation in financial matters and the like, to the extent that a case occurred and its people refused reconciliation. He said to them, "I will not judge between you until you bring me a witness, a young boy." And Abdul Hadi, sons of Sheikh Muhammad bin Dolib, said, "The just witnesses are sufficient proof for the judge against the two parties, as happened to Imam Uthman, may Allah be pleased with him. Two women, a Hadhrami and an Anshari, disputed over the inheritance of their son. The Anshari woman won. The companions blamed Uthman bin Affan. Uthman said, 'Ali bin Abi Talib advised us on this.' Malik narrated it in Al-Muwatta." Halawi is the son of Muhammad Jamal al-Din al-Hijajani al-Ameri, born in Al-Kamileen. He studied under Sheikh Muhammad bin Issa bin Suwar al-Dhahab. Then he entered Egypt and had knowledge of fatwas and judgments. Sheikh Daf' Allah posed a question to him about a matter, and he answered it well. The question is from Daf' Allah bin Sheikh Muhammad to his brother in Allah Muhammad, known as Halawi. The reason for the answer is about a woman whose husband wronged her, and her complaints to you, the judge, were repeated for divorce without proof. Acting on the statement in Al-Mudawwanah from Rabi'ah, the husband is given half the dowry, as Abu Imran said. The meaning of his injustice to her in this regard is that she claimed it, but there was no proof of it, or it was not permissible for him to take anything from her. He answered him by saying, "Peace be upon you from your brother in Allah Muhammad Halawi to Daf' Allah. You asked me about the interpretation of the statement in Al-Mudawwanah and its commentators, such as Abu Imran, and I am not qualified for that. Your question is not in its place; its place is in the chapter on divorce. Divorce is not established except after proof, and you only judge by clear evidence like the sun and the moon. Peace be upon you and your family."
