And Muhammad bin Ali was known by the title Al-Senussi, added to the lineage of Al-Idrisi Al-Hassani in some of the books. And his grandson Ahmed Al-Sharif clarifies in his book "Al-Anwar Al-Qudsiyyah fi" And he mentions the origin of the title Al-Senussi, saying: "The introduction to the Senussi Tariqa..."

And he was also named Al-Senussi after his fourth grandfather, Senou, son of Yahya. Al-Senussi is Muhammad bin Abd al-Qadir, and Senou is Muhammad Al-Senussi. Muhammad Abd al-Qadir was a leader in interpretation and hadith, so much so that he became known as the Imam of the Hadith scholars and was one of the memorizers of his time. He traveled in the Maghreb seeking knowledge and reached Tlemcen, where he stayed with a tribe.

He said: "These are the Banu Senou, from the outskirts of Tlemcen." And when he achieved his goal, he attributed himself to them.

And those who came after him were named after him, so that his children would be blessed by his name. It is said that this tribe is attributed to a mountain there called Senous. As for the title Al-Khatabi, it came to him from his grandfather, Khattab bin Ali bin Yahya. It appears from the words of Ahmed Al-Sharif that the family was known in Mostaganem as the Aal Khattab. Arslan also mentioned the name of Ibn Al-Senussi.

And he is from the Idrisids, who ruled the Maghreb and were known for their piety and knowledge. Their ancestor Idris Al-Akbar founded a state in the Maghreb Al-Aqsa after fleeing from the persecution of the Abbasids in the year... And the lineage of Ibn Al-Senussi shows that a number of his ancestors were princes in the Rif.

It is narrated that Idris Al-Akbar was a descendant of Al-Hasan bin Ali.
