to Al-Andalus, and entered Cordoba. Among those who mentioned this journey is Ibn al-Qattan, whose account is considered the oldest we have. Most modern researchers have relied on this old narration to prove this journey to Al-Andalus. However, some researchers have overlooked this point, implying a rejection of it. This is what the brothers Tarru took in making the journey move directly from Fez to Tunis.
Provencal clearly expressed his doubt about Ibn Tumart's transfer to Al-Andalus. However, this doubt has no justification from the documents, so this transfer remains probable based on what the old narrations have mentioned.
We do not find news about the Mahdi in Al-Andalus except for a few references from which we learn that he sought knowledge there. Ibn Qunfudh mentioned that he read under the judge Abu Ja'far Muhammad ibn Muhammad ibn Hamdin (d. 1153 AH / 1748 CE). Some researchers have imagined that he met some intellectual and doctrinal currents there, especially the Hazmi school in jurisprudence and creed.
He was influenced by them. It seems most likely that his stay in Al-Andalus was not long.
He soon took the road to the East. This is what we infer from the mention of Al-Andalus in the sources.
