All of these did not lie, nor did they reject the religious text regarding the excommunication of a person who commits disbelief while being attributed to Islam. Rather, they had a barrier preventing them from excommunicating him, such as ignorance, misinterpretation, or ignorance of his condition, or the like. These are the most important controls that must be observed when applying this rule to a Muslim who refrains from excommunicating a disbeliever attributed to Islam (due to ignorance or misinterpretation). Otherwise, your excommunication of the Muslim will be without right, and you will then bear the sin of excommunicating a Muslim. We ask Allah for safety and well-being in religion and this world.
