To our sons who, in their upbringing and formation, need to know their past, the circumstances in which Mauritanian society lived, and the sacrifices made by their ancestors who raised the banner of jihad against foreign invasion, despite the harshness of nature and the remoteness of aid. They preserved their culture and religion, and left behind a legacy from which we still draw today. We hope that this work will be a contribution to introducing an important era of history, and I mean by that the period of brutal occupation and colonialism of the country. And that it will be an incentive for them to preserve the cultural distinctiveness of Mauritanians, while persevering to catch up with the caravan of civilization, so that we do not allow another colonialism to dominate us. And God is the giver of success.
