The aforementioned, as was mentioned about him upon his arrival, was apprehended while riding, and he was brought before him. The Sultan, upon learning of the situation, ordered that the luxurious garments be stripped from him and that heavy iron shackles and chains be placed upon him. He was imprisoned in a manner befitting the Sultan's decree, and 'Ammar was imprisoned with him, completing the Sultan's command. Then, he returned to Marrakesh, and the aforementioned Sulayman arrived with five hundred archers and more. He took up residence in a house outside the city, living like a commoner and refusing to inhabit the palace. He possessed great ambition, superior judgment, excellent planning, and a strict rule. He maintained this order throughout the entire district, such that no one died among them except with him in that dwelling. If the sun shone upon anyone within the city, they would inevitably be brought before him, and he would dispense justice according to his will. He kept watch over the entire district and the city, ensuring no alarm or outcry occurred without his knowledge and awareness. Any theft that occurred in any area was investigated by him until it was revealed, and he would judge it accordingly. He thoroughly investigated the affairs of the trusted commander, al-Hasan ibn al-Zubayr, and found him to be corrupt and a thief of the Sultan's treasury. He had taken approximately three hundred concubines and a number of servants. The Sultan's wealth was confiscated from him and deposited in the Sultan's treasury in the palace. He then consulted the viziers on what to do with him. They replied, "We have something to say about this." The Sultan was near, so they wrote to him, and each one stated his opinion. The Sultan then wrote his decision. The Pasha Sulayman was informed, and it was revealed that the wealth was theirs and that it was a trust. He said, "If you have anything to say about it, then say it."
