He learned knowledge as stated in the Quran. He also said, may Allah be pleased with him, and another approach from this. So we took the path from our Sheikh Abd al-Wahhab, the aforementioned, which is taken from the Prophet (peace be upon him). For I heard, may Allah be pleased with him, the saying of the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) saying: "I have not seen anything more beneficial than 'There is no god but Allah, Muhammad is the Messenger of Allah.'" (peace be upon him). This is the essence of taking directly from the Messenger himself. And the chain of transmission, if it is high, meaning few intermediaries, is considered more complete and superior by the scholars of transmission. There was another path that was initially long due to the number of men, so the chain of transmission became long in it. So we abandoned it because there was something closer to it. And we also took the path from our Sheikh, the beloved Sheikh al-Majidri, who took from the Qutb of the Jinn, Sheikh Muhammad al-Qafwi, who took from our master Ali bin Abi Talib, may Allah be pleased with him, who took from the Prophet (peace be upon him). And with this same chain of transmission, we took the Hizb al-Saifi. And we also took the path from our Sheikh, Sayyidi Ibn al-Qasim, nicknamed al-Wazir, and his chain of transmission connects to al-Shadhili through many intermediaries. And the chain of transmission of al-Shadhili connects to our master al-Hasan bin Ali, may Allah be pleased with him. I have omitted mentioning his chain of transmission due to its length. End of what was reached in the handwriting of the master, the Sheikh of our upbringing, the Gnostic al-Mulla. And among his paths, which he took from the Sheikh of his upbringing, the Qutb, Sayyidi Abd al-Wahhab, is the Naqshbandi Tariqa, as he authorized me in that with a wondrous secret. And he authorized me in all the dhikrs, the paths, the recitation, and the prayers upon the Prophet, peace be upon him, whose meaning is sublime. And I, the humble one, say also, previously, there were long chains of transmission, including the rhyming chain of transmission by which we used to authorize previously, and other noble chains of transmission. We abandoned them for the reason mentioned by our benefactor, the Sheikh. And I say that I have left behind and authorized from myself al-Dhafi al-Khalil, the trustworthy, the devoted friend, my sincere confidant, my beloved, the agreeable, the fearful, Muhammad, son of al-Faqih Mahmoud. And I have authorized him in my Tariqa and in whatever of the apparent sciences he is qualified for. As those I mentioned and others authorized me in the two Tariqas. May Allah make us, our fathers, you, and all my children and companions steadfast on the two paths, and I advise him to fear Allah in all moments, and to persist in His remembrance, purified from blemishes, and not to forget me from his righteous supplications in his solitude and in his gatherings. And may Allah bless our master Muhammad and his family and companions to the extent of His essence's greatness.
