) Al-Jawahir fi Nazm al-Mafakhir) Al-Jabarti praised his virtues, knowledge, and asceticism, and attributed some miracles to him. Sheikh Yusuf al-Nabhani mentioned him and quoted his biography from Al-Jabarti. Among what he said about him was: "He is one of the
sheikhs of the learned Imam, Sayyid Murtada al-Zabidi, the commentator of Al-Ihya and Al-Qamus. Because his fame in our lands is less
than the fame of Sayyidi Abdulaziz al-Dabbagh, Sayyiduna Abdul Ghani al-Nabulsi, and Sayyidi Mustafa al-Bakri, may God be pleased
with him and them, I wanted to mention something of his biography to highlight his status and so that what I convey from him of great benefits would be accepted.
So I say, Al-Jabarti mentioned him in his history in the obituaries of the year 1110 AH, stating in this year: Sayyid al-Imam al-Arif al-Qutb Afif al-Din Abu al-Siada Abdullah, son of Ibrahim, son of Hassan, son of Muhammad Amin, son of Ali al-Mirghani, and he listed the rest of his lineage. the noble Husayni al-Naqawi al-Makki al-Ta'ifi al-Hathafi, known as al-Mahjub.
He was born in Mecca and grew up there. What al-Nabhani mentioned of news about Abdullah al-Mahjub is close to and similar to what al-Zabidi mentioned in his dictionary.
He left two sons: Muhammad Abu Bakr, father of Muhammad Uthman, and Muhammad Yasin. Sayyid al-Mahjub was who took care of him after his father's death, and he was infertile and had no children. Muhammad Abu Bakr died at an early age, and it is clear that he did not possess great knowledge or Sufism. It seems that he accompanied his father to Taif, while
Yasin remained in Mecca. Muhammad Uthman had one brother, Abdullah, who held the position of Mufti in Mecca. Therefore, he was called the Mufti of the apparent. And his brother was the Mufti of the hidden. Abdullah wrote a number of works, including the book ( Jawadhib al-Qulub) and
(Mishkat al-Anwar fi Biography of the Prophet (peace be upon him), and (Al-Tafahat al-Qudsiyyah min al-Hadrah al-Abbasiyyah in explanation of the Salawat al-Mushishiyyah), and (Tahrid al-Anbiya' 'ala al-Istighathah bi al-Anbiya' wa al-Awliya'), and others of his works.
Sayyid Muhammad Uthman "al-Khatim" is the clearest figure in the history of the Mirghani family. This man brought great glory to his family and created for them considerable respect and influence in most of the lands of Sudan and Eritrea.
