Al-Sadiq al-Mahdi believes that Sufism in Sudan has achieved several important goals, the most important of which are:

Spreading Islam in Sudan peacefully and popularly. Establishing grassroots channels for religious education and guidance, and expanding Sudanese social awareness with the achievement of Islamic cultural unity, as the orders, despite their multiplicity, converge on unified cultural sources. However, alongside these positives, several negatives emerged, the most important of which, as he believes, is the tolerance that prevailed among the Sufis, which opened the door for many superstitious customs and pre-Islamic traditions to find their way into people's beliefs. Likewise, given the great status of the Sheikh among the people, it created an opportunity for deception and fraud against the minds of the simple.

In our opinion, the winds of Sufism that swept Sudan from the beginnings of Islam's entry and spread, in addition to some individual efforts by scholars, have contributed to consolidating, strengthening, and deepening the sense of belonging to Islam, and to connecting with the sources of Islamic thought at an early stage, which did not produce means of communication for knowing the sources of knowledge among Muslims. Sufism has motivated and pushed Sudanese to acquire books, pay attention to them, and revere them, and has made knowledge beloved to them and adorned in their souls, with a desire to increase in the light of Islam and to draw from the pure spring of religion. Thus, Sufism in Sudan has worked to connect people to their religion, introduce them to it, and create fervent religious emotion in people's hearts.
