And it was said to the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him: "From the people of your household, we ask for your love, and kindness to them, and goodness to them." So he said: "The people of the poor and the needy, and those who believe in Allah and His Messenger." And it was interpreted as acceptance and agreement in both of them, the singular and the plural, and in it is the gathering of mention of Allah and His Messenger in one pronoun. And the apparent is that it is from the words of the author or someone else, not from the hadith. And it is said that it is from him, meaning his saying: "And whoever disobeys them, he has gone astray." And Al-Nawawi and others said that there is no harm in the dual. As for his saying, peace and blessings be upon him: "Whoever disobeys Allah and His Messenger has gone astray." So he has gone astray. And whoever disobeys them, he has gone astray. So he has gone astray. And it is said that this is not from this, because it is a concise and clear explanation. And it is said that it is for admonition and teaching, and it is said that he stopped at his saying: "And whoever disobeys them" and remained silent. And this is the opinion of Ibn Al-Salam and others, that this gathering is specific to the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, and not for others. And there are many hadiths that came with his saying, peace and blessings be upon him, with the pronoun of Allah, the Mighty and Sublime. And Allah knows best. And it was said to the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him: "From the people of your household, we ask for your love." This is how it is in Al-Subki and others. And in some of the hadiths, it is said: "From the people of your household, we ask for your love." As for the saying: "And the people of your household, we ask for your love." It is said that the original is "And the people of your household," and it was said "And the people of your household" in consideration of the word "people," which is plural. And "their love" is in consideration of its meaning. Or it is from the use of the singular for the plural, as in his saying: "And the one who has a covenant, and they are the people, all the people, with Al-Khalid." Or that "the one" is common to the singular and the plural, according to the opinion of Al-Hasan, may Allah have mercy on him. "Their love," meaning their good treatment and kindness, and their connection, and their support. And "their rights" is to fulfill their rights. As in His saying, the Mighty and Sublime: "Say: I ask of you no reward for it, except love for my relatives." And there are many hadiths that came with the recommendation of them, which Al-Hafiz Al-Suyuti mentioned in "Ahya' Al-Mayyit bi Fadha'il Ahl Al-Bayt" and others. He said: "The people of your household are the pure ones, and the purity of love is their exclusivity, and loyalty is their characteristic." And loyalty to the covenant is its completion and preservation. And what is meant are those whose secrets are purified from the impurities of others and attachment to worldly matters. And the fulfillment of servitude to the Mighty and Omnipotent King, may He be glorified. So they were on the covenant in testifying to His Lordship, without any change, transition, or alteration. And this is like what Al-Tabarani narrated in Al-Awsat with a weak chain of narration, and Ibn Hibban and Al-Bayhaqi narrated it in their Sunan and weakened it all from Anas, may Allah be pleased with him, as a marfu' hadith. And Al-Hakim narrated it in his history. And this is the opinion of a group of scholars, meaning that the people of the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, are the pious of his Ummah, by analogy with the fact that if a father leaves behind an inheritance, his relatives inherit it by right of entitlement. And the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, did not inherit dinars or dirhams. Rather, he inherited knowledge, piety, and steadfastness. So whoever has a share of it, he has a share of it, because Allah knew that he was worthy of inheriting it. And it is said that this is the meaning of the saying: "Indeed, we, the people of the household, are..." because Allah, the Mighty and Sublime, purified the people of the household and promised them forgiveness of their sins. So He called everyone who followed them a follower. And Allah forgave his sins. And this is well-known in their language, as in the saying: "Perhaps you will have a Lord like my Lord."
