And they differ, meaning, in faith, according to their varying degrees. Beware, there is no security for one who has no faith. There is no security for one who has no faith. There is no security for one who has no faith. And it was said to the Messenger of Allah, peace be upon him, "I see a believer who is humble, and a believer who is not." What is the reason for that? He said: Whoever finds the sweetness of faith. The strongest in faith is the most eloquent in his speech. Faith is not complete, and it is not accepted except by the command of Allah, peace be upon him, and they differ. Meaning, people, and what is meant are the disbelievers, in their disbelief, in their intensity and eagerness. According to their varying degrees. This is also clarified by what preceded it, in exaggeration of the emphasis and the indication by his saying: "There is no faith for one who has no trust, there is no faith for one who has no trust, there is no faith for one who has no trust." And in the hadith being discussed, and the hadiths after it, faith is divided into true faith, which is pure, and mixed faith. So, the believer is deceived by delusion, and that people differ in faith, and in charity, in strength and weakness, and that it truly increases and decreases, as is the doctrine of the Sunnis. And it was said to the Messenger of Allah, peace be upon him, "I see a believer who is humble, and a believer who is not." Humility is the essence of the matter, or its core. It is not a physical thing, but rather a matter of the heart, especially the heart, and it is the submission of the heart and its reliance and fear of the Lord. The effect of humility is the effect of the heart's presence in the limbs and the lowering of the voice. What is the reason for that? Meaning, what caused this difference? He said: "Whoever finds the sweetness of faith." The sweetness of faith is its pleasure and its enjoyment, and the joy that is expressed in another hadith by the saying of the Prophet, peace be upon him: "Whoever says, 'I am pleased with Allah as Lord, and with Islam as religion, and with Muhammad as Messenger,' then he has tasted the sweetness of faith." And the author of Madarij al-Salikin said regarding this saying: "The sweetness of faith is that the heart tastes it, just as the hungry person tastes food and drink." The Prophet, peace be upon him, expressed the attainment of the reality of faith and its sweetness for the heart, and what it brings to it, by tasting. He said: "The sweetness of faith." And in another place: "And whoever finds the sweetness of faith." And when they asked him about the connection, they said: "You are connected." He said: "I am connected to my Lord, and He feeds me and gives me drink." And some of them thought it was food and drink, so he said: "What is meant is tasting the sweetness of faith, which is the heart's connection to Him, just as the sweetness of food is to the palate, and the sweetness of drink is to pleasure." He said, peace be upon him: "Until he tastes its sweetness, and it tastes his sweetness." And he did not taste, nor smell, nor see, nor feel, except when the believer reaches this state, and his heart directly tastes its taste and finds its sweetness, which is what is meant. And the hadith indicates that the outward is an indication of the inward. And he found the sweetness of faith in himself, and it is so.
