Your followers, meaning the Prophet, may God bless him and grant him peace, said: "One prayer is ten times, and the Messenger of God, may God bless him and grant him peace, said: 'Whoever prays for you, God will pray for him ten times.' This is narrated by Al-Bukhari and others. Or would you be pleased that your Lord says he does not pray for you, but for one of your people? The hadith states that whoever prays for you, God will pray for him ten times. And whoever prays for you once, God will write for him ten good deeds, erase ten sins, and raise him ten degrees. And the angels pray for you seven times. There are multiple hadiths that God prays ten times for whoever prays for the Prophet, may God bless him and grant him peace, once. This is narrated by Muslim, Abu Dawud, Al-Tirmidhi, Al-Nasa'i, Ahmad, Ibn Hibban, Al-Tabarani, and others, from Abu Hurayrah, Abdullah bin Amr bin Al-Aas, Umar bin Al-Khattab, Ammar bin Yasir, Anas bin Malik, and Aws bin Hudhayfah, may God be pleased with them. Al-Qadi Iyad explained in Al-Ikmal and Al-Sindi in his commentary on the hadith of Muslim that "ten times" means ten times. He said that the meaning of God's prayer for him is praise for him among His angels. He said that God's prayer for him is a sign of His pleasure with him. He said that God's prayer for him is ten times, as God Almighty said: "Whoever comes with a good deed will have ten times its like." And God's prayer for him can be in various forms, and its apparent meaning is his honor among the angels. He said in another hadith: "And when God prays for him ten times, it is better for him than the world and all that is in it." This is also how Al-Sham, Abu Abdullah Al-Rasa', interpreted God's prayer for His servant, may God bless him and grant him peace, in this world and the hereafter. Al-Qasimi, Abu Abdullah Al-Sikari, said that prayer is a sign of closeness to God, and whoever God is pleased with, he is better than the world and all that is in it. He said that it is ten degrees, by which God repels calamities and misfortunes, and by which His blessings are sought. He said in Latif Al-Munan that Al-Shaykh Ibn Ata' Allah said: "Whoever prays for the Prophet, may God bless him and grant him peace, once, it is better for him than the world and all that is in it." He said to Ibn Mas'ud: "Whoever prays for the Prophet, may God bless him and grant him peace, once, it is better for him than the world and all that is in it." He said that the Prophet, may God bless him and grant him peace, said: "Whoever prays for me once, God will pray for him ten times." He said that it is sufficient for you that God prays for you. If you were to spend your entire life in all acts of obedience, and then God prays for you once, that one prayer is better than all the acts of obedience in your entire life. You pray according to your ability, and He prays according to His Lordship. This is if it is one prayer, so how about if it is ten times for each prayer? Al-Qadi Iyad narrated in Al-Ikmal from some of the verifiers that he used to say about the saying of the Prophet, may God bless him and grant him peace: "Whoever prays for me once, God will pray for him ten times," that this is because he is seeking his share of reward or the answer to his supplication. He said: "This, in my opinion, is questionable." And the Prophet, may God bless him and grant him peace, said: "The closest of people to me on the Day of Resurrection are those who pray for me the most." He said: "The closest of people to me," meaning the closest to me and the most distinguished by me, the most numerous.
