A large number of the above names are found in the lists which were drawn up for Thothmes III., and cut on the walls of his temple at Karnak, and it is possible that these formed the sources whence the architects of Amen-hetep III. and later kings drew the names of conquered peoples and countries with which they filled their annals.

It has been thought that the temple of Sulb was founded by AMEN-HETEP III. WORSHIPPIVG HIMSELF UNDER THE FORM OF THE LORD OF KENSET.

Thothmes III., and though no definite proof for this view can now be furnished, this may well be the case ; if so, the names on the base of the pillars would be those of tribes and nations vanquished by him, and not by Amen-hetep III.
