of the Book of the Dead according to the Sai'te Recension, and illustrates the text entitled, "The Chapter of going in and of "coming forth from the Tuat (i.e.. Other World) of the Amentiu " gods, and of being among the followers of Ra, and of knowing " the souls of Amentet." At the end of the wall stands a priest, who wears a panther-skin and ministers at a table of offerings. The hieroglyphic texts are much mutilated, but parts of them give a connected sense, e.g., " The gates in the eastern horizon of heaven " are opened for thee, and thou findest Ra standing [there], and " he embraceth thee, O lord of the two lands, Alu-Amen, &c." On the south wall we see the king seated on a lion-throne as before, but the place of the dog in the former relief is now filled VOL. I. 385 c c
