FERLINI'S ''FIND" For a number of other objects from Bagrawiya see the official VerseicJmiss, Berlin, 1899, p. 411.

The portion of Ferlini's " find " which was acquired by the " Antiquarium " at Munich is thus summarized in the official Guide ' : 703. Necklace made of beads of gilded glass, scarabs inlaid with utchats, symbols of " life," hearts, and heads of Hathor.

(See illustration No. 8.)

704. Richly decorated finger rings, with shield-shaped bezels engraved with heads of sacred animals, ram, cat, or figures of Osiris ; the heads wear elaborate crowns, and frequently have above them the plumes of Amen, the rams' horns with disks, uraei, &c. One ring is inlaid with an utchat, or Eye of Ra or Horus, and one is inscribed with a figure of a small temple.

705 and 706. Hinged armlets, ornamented with squares, annules, " Nile keys," scale or feather patterns, heads, &c., the intervening spaces being filled with red, blue, and green enamels. (See illustration No. 9.)

707 and 708. Hinged armlets, smaller and of better work, the ornamentation being similar.

Where the hinges come in Nos. 705-708 are figures of Mut or Isis with outstretched wings ; they wear double crowns, and diadems with serpents and hawks. (See illustration No. 10.)

709 and 710. Bronze boxes, with handles, for holding costly unguents or perfumes ; the handles of the small one are in the form of the " knot of Hercules," and those of the large one in the forms of bearded Dionysos masks. Dr. Christ believes these to be of Greek, probably Alexandrine work, and he thinks that the other objects of the group belong to the late Greek Period.
