The resultant altitudes are given in the columns marked I. It will be seen, however, that this assumption is altogether inadmissible. That the aneroid underwent a change is undeniable, but this change clearly did not occur whilst Mr. Felkin travelled up the Nile to the Albert Nyanza. It took place undoubtedly after he had scaled the plateau, and probably not until after he had left Mruli behind him, and moved the hand of his aneroid ! The results are as follows :
