MR. WILSON'S AND MR. FELKIN'S METEOROLO-GICAL AND HYPSOMETRICAL OBSERVATIONS.

SUMMARIES of the greater part of the following observations have already been published by Dr.
Hann, in Petermann's ' Mittheilungen ' (1879, p. 64, 1880, p. 143), and most of the altitudes have been computed by the gentlemen named, or by Dr.
Zoppritz. It appeared to me, however, that a summary of these most valuable observations would form an appropriate appendix to a work in which an account is given of Mr. Wilson's and Mr. Felkin's journeys in Africa. In the course of my search for materials to aid me in the compilation of the large Map of Equatorial Africa, upon which I am now engaged, the authors kindly placed at my service their journals and diaries. I then found that these contained a mass of information which had not been utilised by Dr. Hann. This determined me to sift the whole of the facts collected, and to embody the 2 A 2
