The lost amount would be minimal. If we consider the lost water to be 10% and deduct the water derived from the soil, we can extract from the average of the three estimates the water required for the fields after correction and making it conform to the required amount for the Egyptian sector, which is about ... million cubic meters. All these estimates are based on the amount of water required in the field and are equivalent to the estimate of the actually used water, which is 11.0 million. Based on this, the opinion settled on adopting the approximate number of ... million.
Investigation of the estimates and statement of future monthly requirements.
The monthly water requirements at Aswan have been extracted from the aforementioned estimates, irrespective of the complications arising from filling and emptying the Nile channel between Aswan and the Delta Barrage. The estimated water for the fields includes the water derived from the soil by lifting machines (distributed between April and July) and that taken from the Nile by pumps between Aswan and the Delta Barrage. The latter is included in the calculation of lost water in transit in Mr. Rust's estimate.
