In a village near the Pyramids, a crowd of its inhabitants were confronted, and the traces of this disease were found in 49 percent of those who appeared healthy. They spent a long time searching for a possible way to purify the Nile water from disease microbes before filtration, by means of sedimentation. This required conducting several thousand bacteriological and chemical examinations. The result was satisfactory and will have great significance for the future of the drinking water issue in the Egyptian region.
Chapter Eight On Quarantine "43" - Native Courts (1) Civil Justice: The jurisdiction of ten other provincial courts was expanded in 1909 to include civil matters, but this did not reduce the accumulation of civil cases in the district courts. Eleven other provincial courts were given the right to hear civil cases in November, and a new district court was established in El Arish with jurisdiction in civil matters. The significant increase in the number of cases handled by the provincial courts on behalf of the district courts has been effective in alleviating the workload of the district courts, as is evident from the following statistics of civil cases for the years 1909 and 1910. 1 - New Cases
