To remove him from what was in it, then they tempted him with the *tiash* and bought him. When he realized their intentions, he became confused and bewildered. A sedition arose among them, and he said, "I do not want to be a son and a sinner to you. I want to be the Sultan of the Commander of the Faithful and the Caliph of the Muslims." They pledged allegiance to all who followed him, making him Imam for a month and a half. During this period of sedition and fighting, he remained day and night. He was a man who sought knowledge, having read some of it. He remained in this state until they drove him out and killed him in the aforementioned place. I have realized that in this year, meaning the year 770 AH, during the reign of Pasha Ham bin Abdullah, the *khutbah* was granted to the descendants of Mulay Ahmad al-Dhahabi in the land of Tekrur, from the land of Kebbeki to Baita, after they had been granted the *khutbah* for seventy-one years on all the minbars of the mosques of Tekrur until the aforementioned period. Because of this, the *Kahya* Muhammad al-Shatwi rose up when they prevented the army from *al-Thabat*. They desired the greater Sultanate from *al-Thabat* and took control of the people of Tiket, with the approval of the judge, imams, and merchants of the land. They confirmed his Imamate, and the army agreed with him, except for the wicked and the people of Hajam, who refused to pledge allegiance to him after the *khutbah* was delivered in the Great Mosque. He was repeatedly removed from his minbar, as was the Imam of the Citadel. Then the *khutbah* was delivered in the name of Sultan Muhammad al-Shatwi, and he was named. The *khutbah* and support were not only in his name in Tiket and Kindam, but rather his name was replaced with the name of Pasha Ham, the aforementioned, saying: "O Allah, grant victory to Ham, our master, a victory that strengthens the religion and humbles the infidels, and increase for them abundance among the servants and the lands, and grant them a clear victory, O best of those who grant victory." And it spread to every land where the Friday *khutbah* was delivered. They began on Friday, the third day of Rajab al-Fard, the seventh month of the year 770 AH, which has no beginning to its first or end to its last. Then he was dismissed in Jumada al-Akhirah, and it was said that he was poisoned.
