Ahmed Atiq, with the intention of deposing his brother Omar, prevented Omar from entering the fortress. Omar left his army facing him. Ahmed devised a ruse, disguised himself as a Bidani, and entered through a gate other than the one where the army was, accompanied by a piper. When he reached the mosque, it was opened in his name. Omar abandoned his position and fled. Ahmed's army entered, deposed Omar, and installed his brother Sab, who did not fill his shoes. Nevertheless, he was neither just nor discerning. Therefore, Sultan Thulath found a way to betray him. He sent word to him that his uncle was with the army, and chose his brave, skilled, and righteous men, and sent them to Sultan Thulath, after Sultan Thulath had sent to Sultan Ghur to come with a great army of Bidani and others. He passed by the palace of Sultan Thulath, took axes from them, and proceeded to Ghur. He fought them fiercely until the palace was demolished. When Sultan Thulath heard of the demolition of the palace, he gathered those with him from the army of Sab and said to them, "The news has reached you that Sultan Ghur has demolished your palace. Return!" They returned and found the emirs as they had been told. They went to Bakur and gathered those killed there and thirty individuals from the offspring of Qawi who were captured. The news reached Ahmed Atiq that Sultan Thulath had betrayed his brother Sab. He went to the Commander of the Faithful and informed him of this, saying, "Sultan Thulath has betrayed and harmed the horses." He struck him and Ahmed Atiq set out that night. The Commander of the Faithful gathered the army and instructed them to return and to go to Bakur or Qand. If they found them not having destroyed anything, they were not to engage them. The army did not do this and went to Ghur, which was a small fortress. Sultan Ghur encountered them there, and they fought fiercely. The commander of the Muslim army, Art Sahsahab, and the elders of his people were martyred, and the Muslim army was scattered and dispersed. The people of Zufar, the people of Dhum, and all the people of that land apostatized. Ahmed Atiq did not go with the fleeing army.
