Its men and women are dark-skinned, and its women are known for their surpassing beauty, exquisite grace, and evident loveliness, and their skillful hands in crafts. It is a land of colocynth, barley, and rice, which is worth a high price, and its prices are cheap. The prevailing characteristic of its people is harshness, coarseness of temperament, and a lack of obedience. They are a mixture of Berbers and Masamida. Their attire is robes of wool, wrapped around them, and on their heads are abundant hairs, which they take care of and preserve. This is because they dye them with henna every Friday and wash them twice every Friday. The white hair remains. And with the Andalusian henna, they respect their turbans with wool and call them "asfas." And no man among them walks without two spears in his hand. The foreigner has become accustomed to their teeth, and they choose them from iron. They eat a great and known amount of dried meat, and salted meat. The origin of Sus is Farkan, and the city of Narudant follows the Maliki school of Muslims. And the origin of Tiwiywin follows the school of Musa ibn Ja'far.
