The Caliphate of Uthman ibn Affan He was pledged allegiance to, and stood as a speaker, and Uthman (may Allah be pleased with him) was pledged allegiance to in the year 75 AH. Allah, and testified. Then he said to him: "The first of everything is difficult, and if I live, the matter will come to its full extent." Then he descended and confirmed Uthman as governor for the year, as he had recommended. Then he dismissed Al-Mughira ibn Shu'bah from Kufa and appointed Sa'd ibn Abi Waqqas. Then he dismissed him and appointed Al-Walid ibn Uqbah ibn Abi Mu'ayt to Kufa, who was Uthman's brother from his mother. (Then the year twenty-five entered) in which Abu Dharr Al-Ghafari, whose name was Jundub ibn Junadah, died. He was in Sham, criticizing Mu'awiyah for wealth and hoarding, and those who hoard gold and silver and do not spend it in the cause of Allah, the verse. So Mu'awiyah wrote to Uthman complaining about him. So Uthman wrote to him, "Come to Medina." He came to Medina, and the people gathered around him. He began to mention that and the singing of those who hoard gold and silver. So Uthman exiled him to Al-Rabadhah, and it was there that his death occurred. In Al-Rabadhah in the year thirty-one. (Then the year twenty-six entered) In it, Uthman dismissed Amr ibn Al-Aas from Egypt and appointed Abdullah ibn Sa'd ibn Abi Sarh Al-Amiri, who was Uthman's foster brother.
And during the days of Uthman, Africa was conquered, and the one in charge of that was the aforementioned Abdullah ibn Sa'd. And Abdullah ibn Nafe' ibn Al-Husayn, Uthman's cousin, marched towards the direction of Al-Andalus, so he raided that region and returned. Abdullah ibn Nafe' returned to Africa and remained there for a while. Uthman sent Abdullah ibn Sa'd back to Egypt. And in the year twenty-eight, Mu'awiyah sought permission from Uthman to invade the sea, and he granted him permission. So Mu'awiyah sent an army to Cyprus, and Abdullah ibn Sa'd also marched to it from Egypt. So they gathered against it and fought its people, then they agreed on a tribute of seven thousand dinars each year.
Then the year thirty entered. In it, Uthman ordered what was found in Umm Al-Qur'an from the people of Iraq to be more accurate than the Quran of the people of Sham, because we read it from Ubayy ibn Ka'b. And the people of Sham say our Quran is more accurate because we read it from Al-Miqdad ibn Al-Aswad. And so on in other provinces. So he gathered a group of the Companions to have people follow the one that was written in the Caliphate of Abu Bakr (may Allah be pleased with him), and it was deposited with Hafsa, the wife of the Prophet (peace be upon him), and he burned what was with him and what was in the hands of the people. So he did that and sent and sent each one to a major city. And the one who was entrusted with copying the Quran in the time of Uthman was Zayd ibn Thabit, Abdullah ibn Al-Zubayr, Sa'id ibn Al-Aas, and Abd Al-Rahman ibn Al-Harith ibn Hisham. And Uthman said, "If you differ in a word, write it in the dialect of Quraysh, for the Quran was revealed in their dialect."
