They came from the port of Aidhab, and it was fortunate for the Tulunids in Egypt that the Arab-Islamic alliance established by Al-Omari in the land of Shankir did not last long due to a disagreement that arose between the allies because of the accusation of the Sa'd al-Ashira tribe of Qays Aylan. Mudar remained neutral in this dispute that arose between them and the Sa'd al-Ashira tribe, but his successors from Rabi'a refused to stand with him, while the Banu Hilal and Banu Tamim attacked him, but Al-Omari managed to defeat them with the help of a group of his supporters.
We are not deviating from the truth in saying that Al-Omari almost succeeded in establishing the first Arab-Islamic emirate in northern Sudan, and his success set an example for all Arab tribes to move south and follow Al-Omari's example in migration. From here, Arab influence and control increased in the land of the mine, but the assassination of Al-Omari put an end to the establishment of the Arab emirate, especially since Ibrahim Al-Makrouqi, Al-Omari's half-brother, was killed by a group of Beja, which left no strong personality to try to share with him the leadership and command of those Arab tribes that had settled and found a comfortable home in that region of northern Sudan.
There were some events that took place in the land of northern Nubia that convinced Al-Omari that the time was right for the extension of Arab influence into the central or southern region of the land of Makuria. The motive that drove Al-Omari to attack the Nubians and reach those areas of the Kingdom of Makuria was the attempt to create an Arab emirate in those regions, and Al-Omari and his ambitions qualified him to think of such an emirate. The reality proves that Al-Omari's success in achieving the establishment of the Arab emirate was aided by several historical, economic, and political factors in the Kingdom of Makuria, which made the achievement of these goals possible.
In conclusion, Al-Omari's goals were not merely attempts to stop the attacks of the Beja and Nubians or to discover new mines, but the essence of the goals.
