His sister Amina died in his absence. He studied with a man from Shaqqit named Sheikh Muad, who taught people jurisprudence and some religious sciences. Then he left that school and went to another school with a man from the suburbs of Berber named H. Al-Dhakir, who would later become his preacher in Berber and overthrow the administration. He had a strong voice. He attended lessons on exegesis and hadith. In the year 170 AH, he returned to his homeland and went to Sheikh Muad Sharif. In the year Nur Al-Dathim, grandson of Sheikh Muad Al-Tayyib, one of the successors of Sheikh Muad Al-Madani, was with him in Medina Al-Munawwarah. He took the oath of the Samaliyya order at his hands and remained in his service to the extent that he ground his food with his own hands and cooked his food, not out of scarcity of those who would do it, but to draw closer to his teacher. He was devoted to fasting and worship until he received the license of caliphate from his teacher. Then his brothers came to him and urged him to return.
