No one who fought him was spared, and his name was "Kaka Kalla," and his death was that of a traitor, despised by man and rejected by all. And by analogy with these two examples, all the names of the prisoners and jailers are to be understood.

And these are not paid a fixed salary, nor is their livelihood guaranteed. So when they go to the treasury to demand their pay, they are met with a refusal. And there are among the prisoners those from whom money can be extorted, and taxes levied upon them, and they are compelled to meet your demands. So the prison governor would impose taxes on each prisoner beyond his capacity. And Ibrahim Jazah, the commander of the Janissaries, when he was mentioned, would say, "I will not pay this tax unless I have a dirham in my possession." And on holidays and festivals, they would demand money in addition to the usual taxes, which we would pay every day and night to the prisoners, who often took bribes in exchange for their freedom.

And among the prison regulations was the confinement of prisoners in rooms with no escape, so that they would spend the night in the summer and spring in extreme cold. As for the autumn and winter, they would sleep under the sky, chained together. Their bed was the earth and their covering was the sky. The jailers would surround them with whips and order them to lie on one side. If anyone moved, even slightly, they would be beaten with whips.

When they put me in prison, my sentence was doubled until it reached six months. Then I was assigned with others to clean the house of the prison governor, which was adjacent to the prison.
