'Ali Kalad-din. And he said to him, "I want you to give me something as a memento." So the Khalifa gave him a shoe. He took a shoe and put it in his pocket. The Qadi asked him to return the shoe to its owner. He refused. He gave him four goats and a donkey. Then the Qadi said, "If I had owned four hundred goats and a donkey, I would have given them to Kalad-din if he had asked." The Qadi meant by these words to say that if he had owned all the worldly possessions, he would have given them to the Khalifa, and his love for the Khalifa would have increased. Kalad-din and his companions traveled to Suakin and from there to the Abyssinian territories.

The Khalifa issued a decree yesterday to all the inhabitants of the island, from Khartoum to the borders of the Sennar, and to the borders of the province of Berber from the north, and the borders of the province of Kordofan from the south, to come to Omdurman. He threatened to demolish the house of anyone who did not come to him and set a deadline for this, which was the end of the month of Rajab. He also threatened to fight anyone who did not obey the decree.
