Ninety-nine and a thousand. And after him was Abu al-Abbas Ahmad al-Gharubi, a prominent scholar and man of letters, who died in the year thirteen and a thousand. And after him was the learned, knowledgeable, discerning, and eloquent scholar, who combined the rational and the transmitted, our Sheikh Abu Muhammad Abdullah bin Yahya bin Abdul Aziz al-Susi al-Sufayhi al-Safai al-Idrisi. He grew up in Malahina in al-Safa, and departed from there to Marrakech. He attended the gatherings of the jurist Sidi Ahmad al-Attara, and the gatherings of the jurist Ahmad bin Ibrahim al-Susi. He read the rulings of al-Gharuwan and some of its narrations from the master Sidi Ahmad Akrabi. After that, he was a scribe for the government of Mushadda, attributed to a tribe from the tribes of Haja. He moved from there to Sus and met al-Ajadi there. He moved from there to Draa and met the knower of God Almighty, the learned, the Lord, Sidi Ahmad Muhammad bin Nasser al-Draai. And after him was the scholar Sidi Abdul Karim Ahmad al-Qunsuni, and the learned knower Sidi Abdul Karim al-Turuqi, attributed to Turu'a, one of the tribes of Sus. He promised him some of his knowledge. He moved from there to Wanalat and met the learned jurist, the knower of God, Hamza bin Abdullah bin Salem al-Ayashi, the author of the Journey. He took from him grammar and interpretation, and heard from him Sahih al-Bukhari. He moved from there and met al-Madhalij there, and the jurist Kalala bin Abid took from them. And the knower of God, Sidi Muhammad al-Senussi. He moved from there to Al-Azhar University in the year six and a thousand. There he met the virtuous scholar Abu Abdullah Muhammad al-Nashri, and Sheikh Ahmad bin al-Aqeed al-Sharmuji, and our Sheikh Abdul Ra'ouf al-Bashshi al-Manai, and Sheikh Ahmad al-Yaghi, and Sheikh al-Muhtar al-Tilimsani, and Sheikh al-Amisihi, and Sheikh Khams al-Bashar. He benefited from all of them in grammar and morphology, and took from them jurisprudence, exegesis, books, and Sunnah. He was accompanied by a group of them. And we have continued to this day as a source of knowledge. He took from him a portion of al-Baydawi, and from al-Adud on Mukhtasar Ibn al-Hajib, seeking God Almighty for benefit. And Egypt, may God have mercy on him, and he was born there. Sheikh al-Jurist al-Salih Sidi Ahmad al-Makan was righteous, his prayers were answered, respected, and generous. From it, with piety, he followed the path of justice, avoiding the flaws of the weak and their helpers. He was not blamed for his actions, and he did not hesitate to consult with the ruler. When this reached him, he could not refrain from it. He died in the year forty-two and a thousand, may God have mercy on him, in the year one hundred and a thousand. And Egypt, may God have mercy on him, and he was born there. Sheikh al-Salih al-Alim Sidi Omar bin Muqbil al-Kabir. He was taught by Sidi Ahmad al-Malik and others of the prominent figures present in the city. He took charge of meeting him when Sidi Ahmad al-Malik grew old, and his son took charge of him. He died in the year fifty-four and a thousand, on the night of Sunday, the ninth of the month.
