When the dispute occurred between him and Al-Jubhi, he wrote to the Sultan secretly complaining about him and mentioning his bad conduct. The answer was received with permission for his exile. When it was the day of changing the guard at the Diwan, at the beginning of Rabi' al-Thani, they became angry. The Diwan and the guard were removed from it. The robes of honor were taken. Kaban's property was seized, and the weapons were taken from Kaban's storehouse. The gate of the citadel was closed, and he was granted permission to leave. He sent to Ali Bay, who was absent, so he hurried to him and entered with him. He sent to the army to inform them of what had happened. Kaban was besieged in the citadel, and the sedition subsided. The matter of the treasury was then turned over to the sedition. What was with the Jurwi, whom he had brought with him, the sedition was intensified by Adham. The fire of sedition was rekindled. His uncle, Kaban, was concerned about the money. Then they went to Al-Maghrib, and a severe confrontation occurred between them. Then Ali Bay turned against Kaban and decided to depose him. He besieged Kaban in the citadel on the tenth of Dhu al-Hijjah. When it was the day of Eid al-Fitr in the year 1043, Kaban's delay in reaching him intensified, as was their custom. Ali Bay became angry about this and sent him the next day, Commander Maram, to plead with him and urge him to reach him. So he left the citadel with his companions. When Ali Bay arrived in Tunis and was guarding it, Ali Bay's cavalry stood between him and Tunis. He feared that he would return to him. Kaban was distressed by this and took refuge in the house of Yazid, the commander. The gate was closed. The warriors and his companions returned. Kaban was taken and imprisoned for seventeen days. Then he was released and taken to the Muslim cemetery with a group from the Diwan. When they reached him at Ras Al-Kani, Muhammad ordered him to his garden. Al-Hanfara and the scholars, upon Ali Bay's order, sent his brother Ramadan Bay and his old scribe, Sarrah, and a group of the guards to the citadel, led by Ahmed Shalabi.
