And Husayn Agha al-Ṣabāliḥiyyah was sent to Sūrsū, and he arranged for each town what was appropriate for it. And he severely destroyed the castle of Kūrfū, and garrisoned it with soldiers. And the people went for jihad and busied themselves with buying weapons, and their price rose greatly. Everything was sold for double its value, and it was not enough for the people. Sales and purchases in the markets were active. Three ships arrived at the port, and for twenty-five days nothing entering or leaving the port was prevented. Then Amārim Rays set out in a ship, a swift one, to raid the coast of Sudan. May God be pleased with Ṣafī Marḥab, and they were defeated by them. He attacked him and fired many cannons. A Jewish ship, Qāmirat, was damaged. And he landed on the shore, and the place was defiled. His ship was damaged. In these days, the merchants of al-Barqūsiyyīn, al-Fākinūn, in Būtrūnis, asked our master to facilitate their pilgrimage to their lands, by taking a down payment and mounts behind the river to their ships, and entrusting their homes and provisions to Liījī bin Sār, who was accompanied by some of the captains of the French ships, who were in the river, and the ships of Būtrūnis. So they requested the release of others. Isharāy said that our master ordered the release of the prisoners, that they were not captured or imprisoned, and that they had not committed any offense against you. And God Almighty has made good in it, that it was a restraint on your actions. Consider Būtrūj, and their reliance on him, as our master ordered. This is what was said, and they did not act accordingly. The cry was raised.
