Shams, the Qadi of Justice, was born in the city of Arjhi. He was of the Shafi'i school of thought and was one of the four qadis who judged under King Dakin when he was brought from the East. Sheikh Ajib ordered the qadis to be dispersed. Sheikh Abdullah al-Arki, Sheikh Abd al-Rahman ibn Mashaykh al-Nuri, and Sheikh Baqdush were appointed over Dar al-Majmu'ah, and Qadi Dashnin over Arjhi and all the Shafi'is. He was called Qadi of Justice because he annulled the marriage of Sheikh Muhammad al-Muhim. This was because, in a state of divine ecstasy, he had increased his marriage beyond the legal limit of four wives and had married two sisters. He married the two daughters of Abu Nudwah in prosperity and married the daughters of Sheikh Ban al-Niqa al-Dharir, Kulthum and Khadim Allah. Qadi Dashnin objected to him. When Sheikh Muhammad al-Muhim came for Friday prayer in Arjhi, as he was leaving the mosque, Dashnin seized the reins of his horse. Shams said to him, "Have you not had enough of women, having married two sisters?" He asked him, "What do you want?" He replied, "I want to annul your marriage because you have violated the Book of God and the Sunnah of His Messenger, peace be upon him." He said, "The Messenger has permitted me, and Sheikh Idris knows this." Sheikh Idris was present, so he asked Sheikh Idris. Sheikh Idris said, "When a slave is embraced by his master, he returns to him." He said, "I did not ask you about his guidance, I asked you about his reality." Sheikh Idris said, "Son of Dashnin, leave his matter and let him be between him and God Almighty." Dashnin said, "I have not neglected his matter, nor have I left him, and I have annulled his marriage." Sheikh Muhammad al-Muhim invoked a curse upon him, saying, "May God annul your skin." It is said that he was afflicted with a disease that caused his skin to peel off. Nevertheless, he did not change his ways, and this only increased his certainty. For this reason, he was named Qadi of Justice. Sheikh Faraj ibn Tuk Tuk said about him in poetry: Where is Dashnin, the Qadi of Justice? He is named in error. His offspring are blessed with Salvation. He is the fire of the message.

He passed away, may God Almighty have mercy on him, in al-Dakhilah, and his grave is visible in Zarr.
