- 172 -The King and his wife granted him land in the vicinity of Al-Halfaya, as far as a horse could gallop east or west. The wells and springs were his, and the roads led to him from all directions, and so it remains to this day. He was a man of great authority, so much so that a man in the time of the King Al-Samih, who was the governor of Al-Halfaya, said to Sheikh Ya'qub, "Sheikh Ahmad is better than Sheikh Muhammad." Another said, "Sheikh Muhammad is better than Sheikh Ya'qub." The governor asked them about this. Sheikh Abdul Hadi Ya'qub said, "I do not know." And Haj Awad Al-Karim said, "I do not know." The governor sent for Sheikh Ahmad and asked him. He said, "This is a saint, and this is a saint." The words were general. The two witnesses differed. He said to them, "This is a saint, and this is a saint. Sheikh Muhammad recited the Quran on the island, taught monotheism, and guided people. Therefore, he has more reward in Sharia." He is more rewarded in Sharia, superior to others. Allah Almighty said, "Are those who know and those who do not know equal?" Sheikh Ya'qub was buried in his house, about half a mile from Al-Halfaya, and his tomb is visible and visited. Yusuf, son of Sheikh Muhammad, son of Al-Turayfi, followed the path of the righteous through his father. He studied under him in "Khalil" and received permission for guidance and teaching. His life was long, and his fame spread from his youth. He was placed in charge of leadership until he reached a high level of renown. Upon his father's death, his secret, his blessings, and his awe were inherited by him. May Allah be pleased with him. He said, "I began teaching Khalil, and when I reached the section on 'Musamih Al-Jawb' and 'Al-Khaff,' I said, 'What shall I leave behind?'" By the blessing of my father, Allah opened for me. He taught for about sixty-five years after his father, guiding disciples and teaching. Allah granted him complete acceptance from both the elite and the common people. The world turned to him, and he held onto it outwardly, not inwardly. This was considered the pinnacle for students. He clothed the naked, fed the hungry, helped with the hardships of life, and maintained kinship ties. If he heard that someone was displeased, he would offer them kindness until they were satisfied. He was a man of insight and knowledge, and his fatwas and judgments were numerous. He appointed a successor during his lifetime, Sheikh Muhammad, who inherited from him and took his place in teaching, guiding disciples, humility, offering kindness, and helping with the hardships of life. May Allah prolong his life for the Muslims and make him a successor to his fathers. This book was completed on Tuesday, the 16th of Rabi' al-Awwal, in the year 1116 AH. May Allah complete His favor upon those mentioned herein. And may Allah bless our master Muhammad and his family and grant them peace.
