Woe to the people of Iraq from his followers. Then the Mahdi will emerge from us, the People of the Household, and will fill the earth with justice as it was filled with injustice."

And the black banners coming from Khorasan (Afghanistan) will descend upon Kufa (Iraq). The Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him and his family) said: "Black banners will come from the East, their hearts like iron. Whoever hears of them, let him go to them and pledge allegiance to them, even if he has to crawl on snow." And the black banners will establish a state called the (State) "From Ali bin Abi Talib (may Allah be pleased with him): he said: "When you see the black banners, stay on the ground, do not move your hands or feet. Then weak people will appear, whom no one pays attention to. Their hearts are like iron. They are the companions of the state. They do not fulfill their promises or covenants. They call to the truth but are not of it. Their names are nicknames, and their lineage is to villages, and their hair is loose like women's hair, until they disagree among themselves. Then Allah will bring the truth to whomever He wills." And their leader will be called the (Caliph).

From Ali (may Allah be pleased with him), he said: "When the Sufyani sends an army to the Mahdi, they will be swallowed by the earth in the desert. When the people of Sham hear of this, they will say to their Caliph: The Mahdi has emerged, so pledge allegiance to him and enter his obedience, or we will kill you. So he will send him allegiance."

And it will be under the leadership of a man from the descendants of Hussein. From Abdullah bin Amr, he said: "A man will emerge from the descendants of Hussein, from the East. If the mountains stood in his way, he would demolish them and make paths through them." And from Zar bin Hubaysh,
