A notice.

He will emerge, a man called Al-Sufyani, from the depths of Damascus, and the majority of those who follow him will be from the tribe of Kalb. He will kill until he disembowels pregnant women and kills children. Qays will gather against him and he will kill them, so much so that the tail of a hill will not be safe. And a man from my household will emerge from the Haram.

Arta'ah said: "When the Turks and Romans gather, and a village in Damascus is swallowed by an earthquake, and a group from the west of its mosque falls, three banners will be raised in Sham: Al-Abqa', Al-As'hab, and Al-Sufyani. A man will be besieged in Damascus and killed, along with those with him. And two men from the sons of Abu Sufyan will emerge, and victory will be for the second. When Al-Abqa''s reinforcements arrive from Egypt, Al-Sufyani will appear with his army against them and kill the Turks and Romans at Jarabulus until the beasts of the earth are satisfied with their flesh."

The authentic hadiths, especially in the two Sahih collections, refer to him, even if the narrations do not explicitly state his name. Refer to his hadiths regarding the earthquake swallowing armies, as previously mentioned. He is a tyrannical figure in the Arabian Peninsula who pursues the Mahdi, his family, his companions, and those who pledge allegiance to him. He sends an army from the direction of Sham to the Arabian Peninsula, and Allah swallows it. After his army is swallowed, he sends another army, which fights the Mahdi, and the Mahdi is victorious over him.

Arta'ah said: "Then another man will emerge from them, between Taif and Mecca, or between Mecca and Medina, from the youth and the strong, with twisted features, a flat head, thin forearms, and sunken eyes. In his time, there will be a great upheaval."

Baqirah Al-Halaliyyah said: "When you hear of a people being swallowed by an earthquake nearby, the Hour has drawn near."

Jabir narrated from Abu Ja'far, who said: "When Al-Sufyani reaches the killing of the pure soul, who is the one upon whom it was written, then the majority of Muslims will flee from the Haram of the Messenger of Allah."
