As for the political path, he aimed to organize his followers and supporters, strengthen their connection to him, and rally them around him. Then he prepared them psychologically and materially to seek power through a military revolution against the Almoravid authority that existed at the time. Once they attained the position of Imamate, it would be easy for them to implement the reformist vision he had laid out and called for.

If the Mahdi was successful in the educational path, with success whose effects appeared later in the flourishing of sciences and their development, then in the political path he often fell into extremism and exaggeration, and resorted to cruelty and violence, despite his great acumen in organization and good psychological and material preparation.

The fate that befell the Mahdi's call and his followers was commensurate with the nature of these ideas on the one hand, and with the nature of Moroccan culture on the other.

In the political sphere, his call bore fruit in a strong state that contributed to enriching Islamic culture and halted the Crusader advance through its jihad for several centuries. However, internal weakness factors soon crept in, leading to its downfall. Perhaps one of the reasons for this is that the Mahdi did not lay solid foundations for governance after him, which would have protected from the struggle for power that often leads to the annihilation of states.

In the doctrinal sphere, Moroccan society quickly rejected Mahdism and its associated ideas. However, Ash'ari ideas, especially the methodology of interpretation, found acceptance among the people of the Maghreb. They gradually embraced them until Ash'ari creed prevailed throughout all regions of the Maghreb, and this is perhaps one of the most lasting impacts of the Mahdi and his call.
