In an effort to sever the stubborn king's connection to the Church and anything with religious significance, new calendars were created that distanced themselves from Christianity. The French Republic's temporal calendar consisted of weeks, each with 10 days; Sunday did not exist in it at all. Pierre Sylvain Maréchal, who was the first to propose changing the temporal calendar, said: "The temporal calendar of the French Republic should resemble the official annual calendar of the Roman Apostolic Church." This confirms France's complete and comprehensive departure from the Christian heritage, truly the stubborn king has honored a god of his own.
The name Napoleon has become synonymous throughout history with Alexander the Great, Hitler, and other power-hungry conquerors. His name even came to be used to refer to the military conflicts in which France was involved. The Napoleonic Wars were a series of conflicts between France, under the leadership of Napoleon Bonaparte, and a number of European countries between 1799 and 1815 AD. Among the most famous of his words preserved is what one of his marshals wrote: "We will win, if God is with us." He said with terrible arrogance, "God is with the big battalions." Truly, the stubborn king has honored the god of fortresses, as the Bible said.
