Al-Bukhari narrated in his Sahih, from Ya'qub bin Ibrahim bin Kathir bin Zayd bin Fudayl bin Al-Mughirah bin Al-Akhnas bin Shurayq Al-Makhzumi, from Yahya bin Sa'id, from Shubah, from Abu Ishaq, from Abu Al-Ahwas, from Abdullah bin Mas'ud, who said: The Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) said: "Do not ask the People of the Book about anything, for they will not guide you, and they have gone astray. And if they tell you something, do not believe them, and do not disbelieve them. And say: 'We believe in Allah and His books.'"

The scholars have agreed on the permissibility of narrating from the Children of Israel, as long as what we have is not contradicted by our Sharia. If it is contradicted, then we must deny it. This means that if what we have confirms what they have, then we must believe them. And if neither confirms nor denies, then we must remain silent about them, neither believing nor disbelieving them. We will act upon what this hadith guides us to, and we will try, by the will of Allah Almighty, to extract some of the timings of the events of the End Times from the books of the People of the Book, whether they confirm what we have or, at least, do not contradict it. We say, and with Allah is all success: The Book of Daniel from the Old Testament, sacred to the Jews and Christians.

This book holds a special place for the students of prophecy, due to the important details it contains about the timings of many events. The most difficult thing facing the students of this book is determining the correct values for the temporal units that Daniel used in his prophecies. The most important of these are two units: the first is called a "time," and the second is called a "week." The students do not differ on the fact that the unit of a "week" means seven (7) years. As for the unit of "time," its meaning has been misunderstood by everyone who has dealt with this book. The correct interpretation, which is supported by facts, as we will see in the following lines, is that the meaning of this unit is a temporal value based on a unit of thirty (30) days, or 30 months, or 30 years, and so on.

The spatial basis around which Daniel's prophecy revolves, by the agreement of the students, is Jerusalem. Therefore, Daniel makes it a sign for the beginning or end of the timings of the events he prophesies.
