By the will of Allah Almighty, the period from the revelation of the Quran until the sun rises from the west, Allah Almighty will not accept the Islam of any disbeliever or the repentance of any sinner after that; in confirmation of His saying, Almighty: "Indeed, the religion with Allah is Islam. [3:19]" The Prophet, peace be upon him, likened this to the working period of Jews, Christians, and Muslims together in a full day; then a specific portion of this day was determined for each. The Jews had half of it, and the Christians and Muslims shared the other half. Therefore, half of this day extends from the revelation of the Torah to the revelation of the Quran. This period is estimated at 2100 lunar years, as the time between the revelation of the Torah and the revelation of the Gospel is 1500 lunar years, which is the saying of Ibn Abbas, may Allah be pleased with him, narrated by Ibn Abi Hatim in his interpretation. And between the revelation of the Gospel and the revelation of the Quran is 600 lunar years, which is the saying of Salman al-Farsi, may Allah be pleased with him, narrated by Al-Bukhari in his Sahih. This is according to the table of timings of events found in the appendix. And with our knowledge of the duration of half of this day, about which the Prophet, peace be upon him, spoke, we can know the period of work for Muslims, which is half of the day. Subtracting from it the period of work for Christians, estimated at 600 lunar years, means the period of work for Muslims is 2100 years minus 600 years, which equals 1500 lunar years. Therefore, the period extending from the revelation of the Quran until the sun rises from the west will be, by the will of Allah Almighty, 1500 lunar years. This means that Muslims have spent 1453 lunar years of their period of work, so only 47 lunar years remain for them. Of this remaining period, seven years will be before the descent of Jesus, peace be upon him, and forty years after his descent, peace be upon him, which is the period of his stay on Earth, according to his saying, peace be upon him: "By Him in Whose hand is my soul, Jesus, son of Mary, will soon descend among you as a just judge. He will break the cross, kill the swine, and abolish the jizyah. Wealth will be so abundant that no one will accept charity."
